BAE SITE CONSULTATION FORUM

I went along to The Plaza Council offices last week where the  consultation forum regarding the former BAE site was held.  There was a presentation by the developers showing their hopes for the future of the site.  One of their assurances was that 39000sq ft had been assigned for leisure facilities.  They were actively 'casting their net' to get interest.  Many in the audience expressed their scepticism that the developers were searching hard enough.  If leisure is wanted and not more retail then the residents of Waterlooville will have to fight for it. Want to find out more about the meeting go to the Havant page Council meeting on BAE site development There was a promise that the next public consultation will be held in Waterlooville.  Watch for the dates.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS PART 2

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS 2017

Moving on to Christmas 2017 - It might be sunny outside but now is the time for me to apply for the license for us to hang the festive lights in Waterlooville Town centre.  Dealing with Hampshire County Council and Southern Electric is a challenge!  The assurance is that they have made it easier this year.  I am unsure that is true.  Filling in a form talking about 'windage', 'eccentricity', bracket heights, bracket lows, etc, etc.  Difficult to give answers when you do not understand the questions. Finding out if we need a structural competency survey.  The list continues.  Easy it is not.  Yesterday I almost threw the PC out of the window.  In the end I sent the form to a kind person at Havant Council, who admitted she did not understand the questions either.  Made me feel better!!  At the end of the day I am a mere volunteer trying to bring Christmas to Waterlooville.  Watch for the next stage of the licensing saga!!

SUMMER FETE SUCCESS

The sun shone and the families came to see the 80 stalls, arena events, animals, dog show, horse and carriage, etc etc.  What a fabulous day.  Being a volunteer with Waterlooville Events team it was an exhausting day but also had a sense of satisfaction that we had achieved it for another year.  The day started at 7am to put up our gazebo, then getting the toilets in place and then the stalls on the field.  It calmed until we had to get them off at the end of the day.  So home at 5pm for relaxation. 18 volunteers ran the day.  Many before hand - booking stalls;  organising arena;  doing the relevant paperwork with various authorities; finding the funding; etc etc. What we need are more volunteers.  Why don't you help.  Many hands make light work!!  Be an elf in the xmas grotto, or even be a santa!!  Why not help with the Xmas event??   or help us with the brand new event in May  Waterlooville Carnival in the town centre.   Or help with designing the publicity or just give us i
